The longer you blend them, the smaller the ice crystals become, until they are so close to the texture of the Icee you buy at the c-store that you'll be surprised. Mmmmmm. They do seem to melt faster the longer you blend them.
I let the 4 cups of ice sit for a few minutes to "soften" in the 2 cups of water. Whether you want to do this will probably depend on your freezer and if you have an ice maker (the shape of your "cubes"), and how well your blender handles ice. I think mine is awesome.
