Wow, the days are passing so quickly! I don't even know how to keep track of time anymore, much less try to get blog posts composed. I have to admit that I have been spending a lot of my down time (read: while holding the baby) on YouTube, just watching the creativity and the cleverness that is all over that site. Favorites include the Vlogbrothers and Charlieissocoollike.
We got musical instruments for Christmas, several for all of us to share. So, along with #5 there in the photo, I've been practicing the ukulele! I am horrible at it, but having loads of fun. I'm trying to teach myself Linkin Park's Leave Out All the Rest. Not the first song you think of when it comes to ukulele, but I was listening to it on CD the other day and decided it probably didn't have too many chords. A quick bing search even found me a kid with a uke playing it on YouTube. (I tell ya, everything is out there if you look for it. And I love how bing lets you preview video clips, btw.) We got a 3/4 guitar, too, a nice little Oscar Schmidt, but it arrived broken (I sent it back; now it's on backorder) so for now it's the uke, the bongos and the handbells. Managed in addition to set up our keyboard, collect the recorders, and get some singing practice in with the kids. Wii music has also been inspiring for some of us. My motto is from Chesterton and Nike: A thing worth doing is worth doing badly. So just do it! (Speaking of mottos/slogans, remember "Yes I am!" ? That's Bud Light circa 1994 for you kids out there. It's on YouTube - I looked. [Help me.])
I have several sewing projects planned, one of which is actually laid out on the cutting table. Of course, the only reason it got that far is that I finally managed to clear a path across the room. And why is the house such a mess? Partly because since having the baby I have so little ambition. (Amazing how lack of sleep can make you so tired. And when I am tired, I simply cease to care about some things. Kid: "What's for supper?" Me: "Cereal. You can reach the bowls." --- Kid: "What's that smell?" Me: "What in this house doesn't smell?" --- Kid: "Something's on fire!" Me: "Put it out. I'm sleeping. And don't wake the baby.") The holidays began their relentless march with Halloween. I feel like I've been decorating and undecorating forever now. Then we started having our garage remodeled into living space. Then all the boxes in the garage had to be gone through (holiday stuff) or just plain moved out of the way. We had a parade of visitors. Then we had a dozen appointments to make and keep for doctor, dentist, optometrist, church, etc. AND etc. Most recently? We had to buy a new washing machine. We've written a lot of checks these past few months. Thank God we have the means.
What I really want to know is, why does my To Do list never ever seem to get any shorter even when I get things done? I still have Christmas gifts to mail, for Pete's sake! Ack. What am I doing online? But I want to blog! Well, I'll be back.
TTFN and DFTBA.
