Jennifer over at Craftsanity had a post about crocheted hexagons a long while back. Her project jogged a memory of these fun pillows my mom made when I was a kid. On a recent visit home, I managed at the last minute to snap this photo. (Had to use the flash - it was raining cats and dogs and there was no hope for it otherwise. Not to mention half the kids were already in the car for the trip back home.)
Mom always seemed to find creative ways to use up her leftover ends of yarn, and these pillows were no exception. That long rectangular one was kept in my room for a time, the other was a sofa pillow. And if I recall, the largest hexagon one, which was used as a seat for watching tv, is stuffed mostly with old bread bags and pantyhose. A stellar example of re-purposing and recycling circa 1978.
