I Won Something from TwilightMOMS and Lucky Baby!

I am so stoked about winning this lovely baby sling from a drawing that TwilightMOMS did with Lucky Baby!  Gotta love those online giveaways.

Thanks to both of them for the opportunity to own my first ever baby sling.  You'd think by the sixth baby we'd own a sling, but we never have.  We've had front packs and backpacks, but nary a sling in sight.  I hope it works out for us because it sounds so comfortable, and that Ava sling is gorgeous t'boot.  It has super colors for wearing at Christmas time.

Friday's Featured Website

Today I thought I'd share with you a website that I haven't been following very long, but like very much.  It is called One Pretty Thing and it's just keen.  The interwebs are such time sucking rabbit trails sometimes, and One Pretty Thing is a helpful way to get a nice overview of some of the fresh and lovely projects people are putting out there to share.  For holidays there are themed roundups, but my favorites are the Daily DIY posts which are always a nice photo montage with links to a wide variety of patterns and tutorials for many different kinds of handiwork.   It's like a crafty micro version of Google Reader or Bloglines.  If you want to see the latest offerings of lovely craftiness from the blogging world, check it out!

What? Advent's Half Gone?

I took a look at my sitemeter today and I see I am getting a lot of hits from Chasing Cheerios and Fiscars Craft.  Welcome!  Thanks for clicking through and thank you to those sites for linking to me!  I'm sorry I haven't posted anything fresh for you to look at.  My two blogs seem to be suffering a bit, well - a lot, these past several months.  The main problem for this one?  We moved house in August and my sewing and crafting area is simply not organized yet.  There has been a dearth of arts and crafts in this new house, except for some watercolor painting done by the littles, and the occasional hand-drawn picture book.  I myself have only tried to work on one project, a wall quilt with leaves on it, but I didn't get it together in time for fall so I've put it away.

I still have to buy Christmas gifts, and all those lovely Christmas quilted items I have from my mom need to be unpacked and hung up.  So I'm sorry to say this blog, like my other, will be subjected to the B.W.O. (Blogging Without Obligation) ethic.  Not for long, though, because I pay for this blog here on Typepad (I'm still undecided about moving to a free host or upgrading my services here.  Thoughts?) and it helps guilt me into at least trying to keep up some craftiness.

Sassy Apron Saturday

I read somewhere (?) that my partner (Hi, Aimee!)

actually did receive this package, so I feel safe in posting pictures of the contents that I sent for the Spring Sassy Apron Swap (see button on sidebar for Swap link).  That's a magnetic notepad, some vintage rick rack, an origami folded box (link to directions again on sidebar) with two naturally green and two quail eggs (blown), heart pins, and the folded apron.

Can you imagine paying 13 CENTS for a package of rick rack?  From Penney's?  Awesome.

This apron was made from a pattern that had a much wider waistband like an inverted V, but when I made it up that way, with a matching pocket no less, it looked terrible! And when I tried it on I just said "blech".  So I took it apart and changed the pocket and narrowed the waist.  Ahhh, much better. Thanks to my partner for her patience in having to wait for her package.

(That tree really leans, doesn't it?  Or else it's our house.)

Oh, excuse me - I got all delusional for a minute.  In all honesty, my husband did not give this to me.  It was more like, "So what am I getting you this year, hon?" and I was all, "Don't you think 10 pm on Christmas Eve is a little late to be asking?" and he was all, "???"
Luckily I had anticipated this, and I bought myself a few things, this being one of them.  That's a skein of yarn looking all kooky there.  Check out this post of hers for an explanation.
